Ballina Byron Family Centre is a small community based non profit organisation providing support to families and individuals in the Ballina & Byron Shires.
Ballina Byron Family Centre (BBFC) offers a variety of services to support the well-being of families and individuals within the Ballina and Byron Shires.
BBFC acknowledges that families & individuals often experience difficulty in their lives and may find they need assistance to improve their parenting skills, their self esteem, improve their family relationships and reduce family violence. BBFC assist people to work through these difficult times.
BBFC offers the following services:
Family Support: Trained and experienced staff can offer families and individual family members home or office visits and assist with; information, advocacy & referral; parenting support & information; educational & therapeutic groups, including parenting & self esteem.
Early Years Program: The Early Years Program focus on families with a child 0-8 years. The service provides information & support to improve parents & carers with their children by: supporting parents/carers to identify their strengths as a parent/carer; enabling families to make positive changes and develop strategies which they can adapt to new challenges as they arise; provide information to assist parents/carers to understand their child's development;assist families build connections with appropriate services, community supports and social networks. Services can be provided through home visits, office visits, playgroups, parenting groups and well-being groups.
Community Development: The BBFC is committed to being a key leader in developing initiatives, programs and activities to improve access to and knowledge of child and family information and services by; consulting with the community to establish how services can meet the needs of families; coordinating information workshops and events; developing resources to assist with the provision of information to families and services.
Ocean Shores Parent Resource Centre: The resource centre provides families with a safe, supportive space to seek support and information on community groups and activities, parenting courses, child development and referral to other services. The space offers a place to meet other families in a child friendly environment with feeding and changing facilities.
Fella's Family Project: Male Family Worker provides support to fathers and expectant fathers to strengthen parenting and relationship skills through home visits, parenting programs, support groups and providing information & referral.
Youth Support Worker provides support to boys aged 11-16 years to strengthen their self esteem & relation skills.
